Becky Hart, the savvy event designer behind Event Crush, styled this entire shower and brought bride-to-be Kyra’s dream to fruition. With charming inspiration and a killer team of wedding pros – like photographer Jamie Zanotti, floral designer Chase Flowers and Gifts, and the stunning Lamb Cottage venue – the shower was a complete success. Get ready to be inspired by a poppy palette of purple and orange, a photo display chock-full of doilies and clothespins, mason jar drinking glasses and striped straws, gorgeous tablescapes, burlap table coverings, and much, much more. This post will show you how to plan a rustic bridal shower from start to finish and we’re thrilled to share the full scoop from Becky herself. Take it away, Becky!
Becky tells us, “The basis for Kyra’s bridal shower was the theme of her own wedding – purple and orange, and lots of rustic/country elements. Kyra and her fiancé Cody are on a tight budget for their wedding, so I wanted to help them out by creating elements for the shower that could be re-used for the wedding. I had so much fun planning, crafting, designing, baking treats, and even hosting the shower and was so pleased with how everything came together! Kyra and Cody’s wedding is going to include lots of burlap and lace, so I ran with that for the tables.”
One of my favorite elements of the shower was the “welcome table” right outside of the venue. A vintage purple and orange floral scarf I found for a steal at an antique store made the perfect tablecloth, and matched the purple bandana and the floral arrangements perfectly.
“I have to give a big shout out to Sheri Sew Sweet for the beautiful “Gettin’ Hitched” burlap banner.” We love it, too.
“Burlap from JoAnn’s was used for tablecloths, and I had been collecting lace strips from antique stores to use as table runners. Centerpieces consisted of fabric doilies and mason jars with light purple & orange flowers purchased in bulk from Chase Flowers and Gifts.”
“I have a slight obsession with paper doilies because they are SO inexpensive and can add such a sweet detail to any party or event. I hand stamped several doilies and used them for signage throughout the party, and they also made a really nice backdrop for the engagement photos that I strung along the fireplace with twine.”
“To tie in a country theme, I painted old horseshoes white and used sandpaper to give them a more rustic look, then attached purple crocheted flowers to them. These were used along with the centerpieces and also on the dessert and welcome tables. Purple bandanas purchased from Walmart for $1.99 each were also used throughout the party and added to the rustic/country feel.”
To decorate the guest book table Becky purchased a wooden ‘K’ and ‘C’ from Michael’s and wrapped them in twine and lace to be used on the favor/guest book table. As a twist to a traditional book, Becky applied her own unique twist: “For the guest book, guests wrote messages and words of advice to Kyra and then attached them to white shutters with clothespins.”
What makes the sweetest favor? Homemade cookies, of course! Becky tells us, “Favors were homemade cookies packaged in kraft paper bags, tied together with twine and adorned with a paper doily with a stamp that read ‘thanks friend.'”
So, what did the Bride think? “Kyra loved her shower and best part of all, she now has lots of décor that can be re-used for her wedding!” A happy bride = a satisfying bridal shower success.
